Marcello Lippi has moved to dismiss any talk of him taking up a role at Lazio, should manager Edy Reja leave the club.

Reja has had his resignation rejected twice by the Roman side this season, leading to widespread speculation that the former Italy boss could take up a role at Stadio Olimpico.

However, the 63-year-old has now ruled out a return to club coaching, saying he would only be tempted by international jobs.

“I want to take charge of a national side,” Lippi told Tuttomercatoweb.com.

“I don’t intend to go back and lead a club side in Italy again.”

“I’ve said that before and I’ll repeat it – I’m not the kind of person who just changes his mind like that.”

“I’ve had no telephone call from Lazio, as I’m sure they have read what I’ve told the media 100,000 times.”

Lippi won five Serie A titles and one Champions League across two spells in charge at Juventus.
