The Sun understands that Liverpool have matched the £15 million release clause in Joe Allen’s contract.
The Welsh playmaker has been in high demand following an impressive season with Swansea and has seen his stock rise even further after the 2012 London Olympics.
New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers didn’t hide his desire to get reunited with the diminutive playmaker and it looks as though his wish will be granted.
According to The Sun, Liverpool have agreed to match Allen’s £15 million release clause and are set to win the race for the 22-year-old midfielder.
The deal taking Allen to Anfield is expected to be completed before the end of the week.
The Welsh footballer has been instrumental in Swansea’s first ever Premier League campaign and he is widely regarded as one of the best passers in the elite division.
This will be another great news for Liverpool fans after star forward Luis Suarez signed a new contract earlier this week.
