Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has told Real Madrid to forget about signing Danish centreback Daniel Agger in the January transfer window.
Real’s vice-president Jose Angel Sanchez revealed this week that the 23-year-old was at the top of the Spanish champions’ target list.
But Benitez, who signed Agger from Brondby for 5.8 million pounds two years ago, insisted the Dane was going nowhere, despite having dropped down the pecking order at Anfield.
A combination of injury and poor form resulted in Agger playing only seven times last season and he has featured just twice in Liverpool’s unbeaten start to this campaign, with Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel now established as the first-choice centreback pairing.
