Liverpool want Emenike to replace Suarez

Russian newspaper Izvestia understands that Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Spartak Moscow striker Emmanuel Emenike.

Star striker Luis Suarez could decide to leave Anfield at the end of the season if Reds fail to ensure European qualification.

Liverpool officials are well aware of the danger of staying without the Uruguayan and are currently searching for potential replacements.

According to Izvestia, Spartak Moscow striker Emmanuel Emenike has moved to the top of their hit-list.

Emenike, 25, has a contract until June 2016 in Moscow and is currently valued at €12 million.

His price is set to increase following an impressive showing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, where he won the Golden Boot by scoring 4 goals in 5 matches.

The Nigeria international has been in scintillating form ever since he joined Spartak from Fenerbahce, scoring 18 goals in 37 Russian Premier League matches.

Emenike also proved his worth in this year’s Champions League, netting 3 times in 6 group games.
