French giants Olympique Lyon are very close to completing the signing of striker Jimmy Briand from Stade Rennais. Les Gones , who finished second in Ligue 1 last season, have identified the 24 year old Briand as one of their summer targets and have already agreed terms with the player.
At a press conference that saw Groupama being announced as the club’s new sponsor, Lyon’s president Jean Michel Aulas said that Briand would be arriving at the club on June 15 to undergo a medical. He also added that there were some details to be sorted out with Rennes and said that the player would put pen to paper a four year deal after passing the medical.
Briand is being lined up as a replacement for the experienced Sidney Govou, who is expected to leave Lyon after his contract expires at the end of this month.
