Malouda ponders Vasco da Gama switch

Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda could join Brazilian side Vasco da Gama this summer, according to France Football.

The 32-year-old has one year left on his deal with the Blues, but he is no longer in the plans of boss Roberto Di Matteo.

According to France Football, Vasco da Gama have expressed interest in signing the French international.

The Brazilian club have just extended the contract with star player Juninho Pernambucano and the veteran midfielder is hoping to persuade his friend Malouda to join him at Vasco.

The two players have enjoyed a lot of success while playing together at Lyon and established a real friendship in the process and could now be reunited at the Brazilian club.

Chelsea paid no less than €19 million for Malouda back in July 2007, but the player never quite managed to realize his full potential at Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman lost the place in the starting line-up last term and only started 11 Premier League games.
