Man City could move for Bruno Guimaraes

With some of their senior midfield players linked with departure from the Etihad this summer, Manchester City are interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, according to Football Transfers.

Recent reports suggested Newcastle might be open to selling their midfield maestro at the end of the season, but only if offers came from Real Madrid and Barcelona, not to a Premier League rival. However, it is also believed that there’s a release clause in Guimaraes’ contract set at around £100 million, and City are currently considering whether to trigger it.

Naturally, Guimaraes would have to be open to the idea of leaving St. James’ Park for the Etihad in the first place, but with Newcastle unlikely to qualify for the Champions League and obviously still some way off of being serious contenders in that competition, as well as the Premier League, it’s not very hard to imagine the 26-year-old being keen to replace someone like Bernardo Silva or Kevin De Bruyne in Pep Guardiola’s ranks.

Silva has been linked with Barcelona, while De Bruyne is expected to be an object of strong interest from Saudi Arabia.
