Man City given Jovetic boost

Manchester City could have been handed a boost in their hopes to sign Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic, as the Serie A club would not be willing to sell him to another Italian club, Talk Sport reports.

It was thought that Juventus were the big threat to City to secure the services of the Montenegro international, but Fiorentina will not sell to a rival in the Italian top flight.

Roberto Mancini has been an admirer of Jovetic for some time, but he will need to splash the cash on the striker if he wishes to sign him next summer. It is being suggested it could take somewhere in the region of £30 million to bring him to the Ethiad Stadium.

The English Premier League champions are not sure of attacking options, so Mancini might have to let one of his front-men go if he is to bring in Jovetic.

This puts doubts over the future of the likes of Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli and much is sure to depend on how they perform this season.

If the Fiorentina man continues his good form though, then there could be a number of teams chasing his signature next summer so City will want to do business early.
