Manchester City have beaten Newcastle at St. James’ Park by 2-3 to climb to second place in the Premier League table, sitting just two points behind leaders Liverpool.

It was a thrilling match, with City taking the lead through Bernardo Silva in the 26th minute, only to see it overturned before halftime by Alexander Isak (35′) and Anthony Gordon (37′). However, City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne entered the fray from the bench in the 69th minute and equalized five minutes later, before providing fellow substitute Oscar Bobb with the assist for the injury-time winner.

Speaking to the press after the game, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe expressed hope things would change for his team after this latest setback. The Magpies have now lost eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions, including the loss to Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup.

With 21 matches played, Newcastle are 10th in the Premier League table, 11 points off Arsenal in fourth, with all within the top four spots having a game in hand on them at the moment.

Meanwhile, City boss Pep Guardiola highlighted the importance of players like De Bruyne and Erling Haaland for his team.
