Manchester City must hang on to their captain this summer

Manchester City fans must be very used to their club being involved in transfer speculation.

However it’s a player leaving the club which could dominate headlines this summer. City could be losing inspirational captain Carlos Tevez this summer.

The Argentinian striker has enjoyed a difficult relationship with City boss Roberto Mancini and rumours are rife that he could be heading out of Eastlands at the end of the season.

Passion

Carlos Tevez is often described as difficult to work with. He is a temperament character but his qualities by far outweigh his faults. His sheer passion and enthusiasm for the game is an example to anybody who wants to be successful in the beautiful game.

Tevez is the sort of player every team needs, a player who never gives up lost causes and will give his all while he’s on the pitch. His passion for football has at times got him in trouble with his boss, especially when Mancini has tried to substitute the striker.

Highly-rated

Carlos Tevez is highly-rated throughout Europe and his stint at Manchester City has turned him into an even more high-profile player. He was at times a bit part player during his time at City’s bitter-rivals Manchester United but at City he is the star attraction.

When fit the 27 year-old is one of the first names on Manchester City’s very expensive teamsheet. He has became the club’s talisman and top scorer with 19 Premier League goals to his name this season.

Move

Tevez has been linked with moves to numerous continental clubs. Spanish champions Barcelona have been credited with an interest in the Argentinian but it looks likely that they may now pursue other targets come the summer.

A more likely move would be to Italy and Serie A. According to reports his agent Kia Joorabchian has already been talking to clubs from the Italian top flight. The Milan giants AC Milan and Inter are currently favourites to sign the striker.

Turin giants Juventus are also said to be interested in signing Tevez, as the Old Lady look to rebuild their squad this summer.

Replacement

Manchester City may have the money to sign a replacement for Carlos Tevez but the Argentina international is a unique player. He manages to combine workrate with skill and vision.

Unlike some big name players he’s not afraid of a physical battle either, in fact he thrives on the physical nature of the English top flight. City signed Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko for big money in January but he has yet to adapt to the English game and is a completely different player to the Argentinian. Tevez is better equip to play as a lone striker than Dzeko.

City also have the temperamental Mario Balotelli. I don’t think anybody in their right mind would consider the controversial Italian as a replacement for Tevez. The 20 year-old has talent but he seriously has to work on his mentality if he is going to be a success in the Premier League.

Continuity

If Manchester City are going to be successful then they need to develop some sort of continuity. The most successful clubs in the history of the game have always had continuity. City simply can’t keep going out every summer and buying a new team.

The sale of Carlos Tevez would be a mistake. Carlos Tevez is the sort of player a team needs if they are going to win trophies. In my opinion if Carlos Tevez is sold then it could mean the difference between failure and success next season for Manchester City.

Will Carlos Tevez leave Manchester City this summer?

There are other fine replacements that would fit perfectly in his place. Man City should buy Falcao, that guy is amazing and he would fit perfectly in his place. Cavani is also an option, but I dont think he will leave Napoli in the near future.
