Atletico Madrid knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League as the second leg of their round-of-16 contest ended with a win for Diego Simeone’s side, courtesy of a solitary strike by Renan Lodi.
As Simeone made his way towards the tunnel after the final whistle, objects were thrown from the stands, obviously aimed at him.
Manchester United are conducting an investigation into the incident, and the persons found responsible for this disgraceful act face a stadium ban of up to three years.
