The agent of Roma defender Marquinhos has rejected speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.

The 19-year-old, who joined Roma from Corinthians in July 2012, impressed many with his assured performances last season and has reportedly attracted the attention of the Liga champions.

However, the centre-back’s representative Roberto Calenda has insisted the Brazilian will not be leaving the Stadio Olimpico.

“These rumours are flattering, but he still has a four-year contract with Roma. It’s useless to talk about a transfer,” Calenda told Radio Sportiva.

“He will stay at Roma. It is inevitable that there is interest from other clubs, but a move elsewhere is not on the horizon.”

Marquinhos became an established member of the Roma first team last season, making 30 appearances in all competitions.
