Marseille could rival Tottenham for the signature of Brazilian forward Leandro Damiao, according to one of the player’s representatives.
Internacional’s Damiao has been a long-term target for Spurs, but look set to face competition from the French giants.
However, while agent Vinicius Prates admits there would be interest from his client in moving to France, there has not yet been an offer made.
“I have not been contacted by Olympique de Marseille,” Prates told Sambafoot.
“The leaders of this team have not made me an offer for my client. In any case, Marseille is a great club with a great history and France is a country where life is good.
“Moreover, the championship of France has become competitive with big clubs like Marseille, PSG and Monaco.”
Prates also confirmed no offer had been made from the north London club either, claiming: “There is nothing completed with Tottenham.”
It may well be a transfer that rumbles on for some time yet, with Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo saying recently that Damiao was out of their price range.
“We are following him but for now he is too expensive,” he told L’Equipe.
