DC United are back in the MLS Eastern Conference top five with five matches left in the regular season after beating Philadelphia Union 1-0.

A Lionard Pajoy strike in the 67th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.

The victory ensured United moved to fourth in the East, leapfrogging Philadelphia and pushing Columbus Crew out of the top five in the process with play-offs not far away.

But Columbus (45 points) still have time to secure a spot in the post-season with not much separating them, DC (47) and Philadelphia (46).

DC are next in action on Sunday when they host the West’s bottom-placed side Chivas USA, while the Union tackle the Houston Dynamo.
