Two sides who are looking to lift their first piece of silverware of the season, Liverpool and Chelsea will meet in Istanbul on Wednesday night in the Super Cup showpiece.

Starting with Jurgen Klopp’s men, although some may still have some minor concerns over Liverpool’s recent defensive showings, the Reds did pick up a 4-1 win over Norwich on Friday and started the new Premier League campaign in some style. Once again seen to be the major contender to Manchester City’s crown, the former Dortmund boss will be looking for attacking talisman Mohamed Salah to spearhead their charge. Opening his account against the Canneries over the weekend, the Egypt international bagged 22 top-flight goals last season and finished with a share of the Golden Boot.

As for the Blues, coming off the back of a 4-0 hammering away at Old Trafford’s in Frank Lampard’s Premier League debut, the Londoners have some real defensive issues that need resolving. Along with shipping four against the Manchester United on Sunday, Chelsea have conceded 12 goals in their last four outings, a run that also saw them ship a trio of goals against Championship strugglers Reading. With Salah already opening his account last time out, the former PFA Player of the Year should be relishing the chance to come up against a dishearted Chelsea defence.
