Montpellier boss Rene Girard has warned his Ligue 1-leading team to stay focused ahead of a ‘tricky’ run of fixtures.

Girard’s side are unbeaten in all competitions this year, with a draw against Paris Saint-Germain and victory over Bordeaux sending them a point clear at the top.

Their next three matches are against relegation battlers Dijon, Caen and Nancy, but Girard has told his players not to take the encounters lightly.

“I think we’ve got a difficult period ahead of us. We played against Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux and now have all the attention from the media on us,” Girard said on Thursday.

“We’ve now got a series of game against Dijon, Caen and Nancy. All these teams are struggling in the league and we are on top.”

“They will be motivated and we will need to be on our guard. They are tricky games and we need to respect our opponents.”

“I’ve said this to the team, if we are not consistent, we will be in trouble.”

Montpellier are eyeing their maiden Ligue 1 title, but will have to hold off big-spending PSG if they are to claim the crown.
