LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena praised the effort of the Montreal Impact after the clubs played a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

Expansion team Montreal cruised to a 3-0 victory against the reigning MLS champions and Arena sang the praises of their performance.

“To Montreal’s credit they pushed the pace of the game,” Arena said.

“Our midfield play in the first half wasn’t good and we turned the ball over to many times, but I thought that (it was) a really good game to evaluate some things, which is good.”

“That’s the point of these practice games, so I thought it was good. I was pleased with our centre-backs, I thought AJ (DeLaGarza) and Tommy (Meyer) played well.”

“I thought we picked it up a little bit in the second half in the midfield. I thought we created some decent chance. Towards the end of the first half and the second half we were a little bit short, but it was good.”
