Morrison thrilled with new West Brom deal

West Brom midfielder James Morrison has expressed his delight after signing a new four-year deal with the club.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Premier League club in 2007, penned fresh terms last week which will keep him at the Hawthorns until June 2016.

And Morrison, who is the club’s longest-serving player, has underlined his hope that team-mates Chris Brunt and Jonas Olsson will also commit to the club.

He told the Birmingham Mail: “This is my sixth season here now. I’m committed to the club, I feel settled here. There was no reason for wanting to leave.

“I’m 26, the longest-serving player and I quite like that. Hopefully other players like Chris Brunt and Jonas will follow.”

West Brom have made an encouraging start to the new Premier League campaign, securing seven points from their opening four matches under new manager Steve Clarke.

Morrison said that the positive mood around the Midlands club played a large part in him signing a new deal.

“It feels like home. That’s down to playing every week, the team playing well, being settled,” he said.

“The fans have been great with me, the new manager coming in has been a big factor in me signing.”
