Moyes ´not happy at all´ with Everton display in Burnley stalemate

Everton boss David Moyes admitted his side were nowhere near their best as they laboured to a 0-0 draw with relegation-threatened Burnley at Turf Moor.

Carlos Alcaraz had the only shot on target in the first half, while Beto and Thierno Barry were denied by goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, as the Toffees missed the chance to move back into the top half of the Premier League table.

Everton have drawn 112 Premier League games by a 0-0 scoreline, the most of any side in the competition’s history.

The match did open up in the second half as both teams searched for a winner, but Moyes was aware that it was not the best spectacle and Everton produced their weakest display in quite some time, as they generated an xG of just 0.88.

“You wouldn’t want to watch much of that,” said the Scotsman to BBC Sport.

“It wasn’t a good performance. We have been playing quite well recently but that wasn’t one of our best.

“I was disappointed that we couldn’t play better because we can do better than we showed today – I’m not happy at all.”

Everton travel to face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday with a depleted squad, and Jack Grealish was the latest player to be missing after picking up a virus prior to this match.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jarrad Branthwaite are already on the treatment table, while Iliman Ndiaye is on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

Everton’s bench featured just six outfield players, four of whom were yet to make their Premier League debuts, but Moyes is hopeful Grealish can return in time for the match at the City Ground.

“We have got quite a few players out at the moment,” he said.

“Hopefully Jack will be fine and we’ll get him back this week.”

Burnley boss Scott Parker believes his side deserved to win despite failing to muster a shot on target, as they avoided a league defeat for the second match in a row.

He said: “I thought we were worthy of the three points today.”

“We didn’t put our chances away but I’m really positive about today, while there is an element of frustration.

“It’s a clean sheet, it’s a point and a good performance, which encourages me.”
