Kevin Strootman’s agent Chiel Dekker has confirmed that Serie A side Napoli are interested in the PSV Eindhoven midfielder.

The Italian club are rumoured to have already been looking for recruits in the Eredivisie team’s ranks, with striker Dries Mertens also being linked with a move to the Stadio San Paolo.

And Strootman’s agent has revealed that new Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is monitoring his client closely.

“The interest of Napoli is indeed serious and the club has reported to us, but the focus of Kevin is now obviously the best possible completion of the U-21 European Championships,” Dekker told Voetbal International

Benitez may face competition from Manchester United for the 23-year-old, and Dekker confirmed that playing in the Premier League is an ambition of his.

Strootman is currently in Israel captaining the Netherlands U-21 side, who face a semi-final against Italy on Saturday after finishing second in their group behind Spain.
