Looking to potentially break into the play-off spots in the early hours of Thursday morning, Nashville will welcome Toronto to the Nissan Stadium.
Starting with the hosts, after putting in a sluggish display when returning from the international break last week, there is no doubt that Nashville will be glad to head back to the Nissan Stadium on Thursday. Despite seeing their unbeaten run come to an abrupt end last time out and suffering just their first defeat since opening the 2021 campaign, Gary Smith’s men have another play-off finish firmly at the top of their agenda. With just their goal difference keeping them outside the top-seven in the Eastern Conference, The Yellows have continued to impress on home soil. Including a season-best display as they picked up a shock 2-0 victory against the New England Revs on May 8th, the one-time Stevenage boss has seen his side land back-to-back victories in Tennessee and they will be confident of extending on that run in midweek.
As for the visitors, while Toronto might have landed themselves a second-place finish in the Eastern Conference last season, the Reds are in the midst of what has been a nightmare run of form. Marking their return from the international break with an action-packed 3-2 defeat at the hands of Orlando, the former MLS champions have now lost each of their last three appearances on the spin. Sat way down in 12th and the pressure firmly on Chris Armas’ shoulders, Toronto have drastically failed to build off of that much-needed victory against Columbus Crew last month. More worrying, facing what could be a stern test on the road in midweek, the Ontario-based outfit have gained a real reputation for their issues on the road. Carrying on from last season, Thursday’s guests have failed to win any of their last seven MLS matchups on the road, losing six times.
