Nasri deal on the rocks

After weeks of uncertainty over his future, it looks like Samir Nasri could be staying at Arsenal after all.

The France midfielder had been expected to complete a move to Manchester City this week, but reports in the French media on Saturday suggested talks between the two Premier League clubs have stalled.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger refused to confirm speculation that the deal had fallen through after handing the midfielder a starting spot in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool.

“Nobody told me that (talks had fallen through),” Wenger said. “I don’t know about his future.”

“I always say that I try to keep Samir Nasri. I never changed my mind on that. He loves the club, wants to play for us and if we decided to keep him, I would be happy. At the moment, I’m happy he is here.”

If Nasri would to stay it would be a huge fillip for Wenger, who already has a number of issues to deal with.

Arsenal have already lost captain Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona, and are missing several key players due to injury and suspension for upcoming games.

The problem was made worse against Liverpool on Saturday, with defender Laurent Koscielny coming off after injuring his back and Emmanuel Frimpong facing a suspension after being sent off.
