Nastasic wants perfection from City

Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic is happy with this side’s recent defensive form, but insists there is still room for improvement.

The champions have conceded just once in six English Premier League games since the young Serbian took his place in the team.

But the former Fiorentina defender, 19, believes that is still one goal too many.

He told reporters: “Everything is going well for us. In the last six games we have only conceded one goal – now we need to keep it going, but this time make it no goals.”

Nastasic has slotted seamlessly into Roberto Mancini’s line-up, and is keeping the more experienced Joleon Lescott and Kolo Toure on the bench.

The off-season signing credits his fine form to captain Vincent Kompany and says the skipper is helping him become a better player.

“We talk every day on the pitch and on the training ground, and it makes me happy to play alongside such an excellent captain and in such a good team,” Nastasic said.

“Whatever I am learning, I am learning along with Vinny.”
