PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente continue to share their lead in the Dutch Eredivisie, while AZ Alkmaar suffered their third defeat in a row.

It was never a difficult task for PSV against regional rivals Willem II. Otman Bakkal put the home side in the lead after 27 minutes, and Danko Lazovic doubled the advantage five minutes later.

Ibrahim Afellay made it 3-0 in the 40th minute and a late goal from Frank Demouge wasn’t nearly enough to threaten PSV’s lead.

FC Twente initially had a harder night against VVV Venlo, for whom Achmed Ahahaoui opened the score after just two minutes.

But Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz equalized on 15 minutes and Douglas completed the turn-around 11 minutes later. 2-1 also ended up being the final result.

AZ Alkmaar’s title chances decreased yet again as Ronald Koeman’s men lost 1-0 at FC Utrecht. The only goal of the match came from Sander Keller in the 14th minute.

Last season’s champions will have to do without Simon Poulsen for at least one match, as the Dane conceded a second yellow card in the 94th minute.
