Smelling the chance to make an immediate return to winning ways when the midweek MLS fixtures open up, New England will make the trip to Chicago in the early hours of Thursday.

Starting with the hosts, putting in what was another toothless display over the weekend, Chicago find themselves in the midst of another nightmare MLS campaign. Knowing that they need a miracle if they’re to somehow pinch a shock Final Series spot, the Fire were last seen getting hit with a deserved 2-0 defeat away at Montreal. Only coming under more scrutiny, Head Coach Raphaël Wicky has seen his struggling squad lose each of their last three MLS matchups on the spin, failing to bag a single strike in any of those three consecutive defeats. Knowing that they should face another stern test at Soldier Field on Thursday, Chicago have also collected just three points from their last six MLS contests, a run that stems back over the past five weeks. Likewise, Wicky’s men have scored just one goal in almost 500 minutes of action.

As for the visitors, after having to settle for a point against Columbus Crew over the weekend, despite what was a rampant display on home soil, New England should still be riding a real high. Storming their way to the Eastern Conference title and still holding a remarkable 15-point buffer at the top of the table, Head Coach Bruce Arena has seen his side gain a string of plaudits. In fact, the former USA boss has seen his squad lose just one of their last 13 straight MLS contests, a run that stems all the way back to July 8th. Likewise, they have also managed to collect a hugely impressive 15 points from their last six matchups away from the Gillette Stadium. It should be noted, with the Revs landing a 2-1 victory the last time they made the trip to Soldier Field, we’re backing a similar away win in the early hours of Thursday.
