Competition: MLS

Market: New York Red Bulls win

Odds: 4/6 @ Bet 365

With their spot in the playoff already confirmed, New York Red Bulls will look to close the gap on Atlanta when they travel to the Avaya Stadium on Sunday to face a San Jose side completely out of form.

Starting with the hosts, after another dreadful campaign in the Western Conference, Steve Ralston’s side are now the leading contenders to finish with the wooden spoon. Coming off the back of a 3-2 loss away at Houston last weekend, the Earthquakes have now lost their loast five in the bounce and with three games to go, they are still three points adrift of Colorado at the foot of the table. Conceding 66 goals in the MLS this year, they hold the worst defensive record in either the Eastern or the Western Conference. More worrying for San Jose, they have only managed to win one match at the Avaya Stadium since the start of March.

As for the visitors, enjoying another very impressive year, the Red Bulls managed to book their spot in the playoff with plenty of time to spare. Coming off the back of a very impressive 2-0 win over Atlanta last weekend, they now sit just a single point adrift of them at the top of the Eastern Conference. Also losing just one of their last seven MLS outings, one man to watch for the Red Bulls will be leading goalscorer Bradley Wright-Phillips. With 19 goals to his name, BWP also grabbed a hat-trick in his last match on the road.
