Newcastle reach agreement with Lille for Sven Botman

Newcastle United have reached an agreement with Lille for the signing of Sven Botman in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic. Premier League club Newcastle will pay Ligue 1 outfit Lille an initial transfer fee of €37 million plus add-ons for the Dutch central defender.

Botman has long been on the radar of Newcastle. The Magpies wanted to sign the 22-year-old in the January transfer window and have been trying hard to get him this summer. And now, according to The Athletic, Newcastle are about to sign the defender, who will have a medical at the Magpies next week.

Botman made 25 appearances in Ligue 1 for Lille last season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in the process. The youngster helped Lille win the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21.
