Barcelona duo Neymar and Jordi Alba have undergone surgery to remove their tonsils but will not require a lengthy recovery period.
The pair both featured in the FIFA Confederations Cup final at the Maracana last Sunday, with Neymar helping hosts Brazil to a 3-0 win over Alba and Spain.
And, after fulfilling their international commitments, they have now gone under the knife prior to the new domestic campaign.
“This Friday, Neymar and Jordi Alba underwent successful operations for their tonsillitis problems which have happened repeatedly in recent weeks,” a statement on Barcelona’s official website read.
“The recovery time for both players is expected to be around 10 days.”
Alba and Neymar are unlikely to miss Barcelona’s first pre-season fixture ahead of the 2013-14 campaign, a meeting with Poland’s Lechia Gdansk on July 20.
Neymar could make his first appearance for the Catalan club since sealing a €57 million move from Santos.
