Competition: EFL Cup

Market: Nottingham Forest win

Odds: 6/4 @ Bet 365

Two sides who have endured very different starts to the new Championship campaign, Forest and Stoke will look to book their spot in the fourth round of the EFL Cup when they meet at the City Ground on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, after a summer of ins and outs at the City Ground, Nottingham forest have their sights set on a playoff position in the Championship this season. Since putting three past Newcastle at home in the Cup last month, aside from a close fought 2-1 loss to fellow playoff hopefuls Brentford, the Reds have remarkably not lost any of their other matchups in any competition this season. Given their eye-catching run of form, we’re backing the hosts to come away with the win on Wednesday night.

As for the visitors, although they were tipped as favorites to jump straight back up the Premier League, things couldn’t be going worse for Stoke in their return to the Championship. Now sat just two points above the drop zone and coming off the back of a very disappointing 3-2 loss to Blackburn on Saturday, Stoke have also failed to win any of their five matches away from home this year. Also now shipping seven in their last four, Wednesday could be another very tricky nights work for Gary Rowett’s Potters.
