Obertan nears Newcastle exit

talkSPORT has learned that Newcastle are looking to cash in on winger Gabriel Obertan in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has struggled for first team opportunities this season, with his chances of regular football further damaged by the heavy January recruitment.

Obertan doesn’t appear to be in Alan Pardew’s plans anymore and there is every chance he will be allowed to leave St James Park next summer.

The Frenchman joined Newcastle after a hugely disappointing spell at Old Trafford, but has failed to prove his worth in the North East.

He has made a total of 35 Premier League appearances for the Magpies and could only score one goal in the process. Obertan has made just three league starts this season, although he featured in 8 Europa League games.

With Premier League sides showing little interest in his services, the winger is likely to return to French Ligue 1.
