Southampton striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo is undergoing a medical with Serie A leaders Juventus.

The Italian champions confirmed on Friday that the former Roma forward is at the Istituto di Medicina dello Sport in Turin for tests.

Osvaldo, an Italy international, scored 27 league goals in two seasons with Roma and previously plied his trade in Serie A with Bologna, Fiorentina and Atalanta.

The 28-year-old is currently serving a two-week suspension at Southampton following an incident at the club’s training ground, amid reports of a bust-up with team-mate Jose Fonte.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino acknowledged on Thursday that the striker could leave in the transfer window, with Juve now closing in on a deal for Osvaldo, who joined the Premier League club from Roma in August.

“Italian international striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo is currently undergoing examinations at Turin’s Istituto di Medicina dello Sport,” read a statement on Juve’s official website.

“After which he will complete his medical at the Isokinetic and Clinica Fornaca di Sessant centres.”
