With the chance to climb to the top of the East, Montreal will travel to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday night.

Starting with the hosts, while a dramatic 3-2 loss away at Toronto in midweek may have seen Atlanta’s winning run come to an abrupt end in midweek, the defending MLS champions have shown some real improvements since a sluggish start to life under Frank de Boer. While leading goalscorer Josef Martínez might still be away at the Copa America, Atlanta have won four of their last five matchups and also have a US Open Cup semi-final to look forward to next month. A huge part of their recent resurge has come thanks to their continued displays at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The hosts are enjoying a six-match winning run in Georgia and have scored eight goals in their last three outings on home soil.

As for the visitors, putting in yet another very eye-catching display in their 2-1 win at home to Portland, not even the most devoted of Montreal fans would have expected their stellar rise up the Eastern Conference. Now sat just two points adrift of league leaders Philadelphia and with the chance to climb to top-spot, former Aston Villa boss Rémi Garde has seen his side win three of their last four matchups and the mood in their camp is the highest it has been in recent memory. Also scoring a pair of goals in back-to-back encounters, Saturday could prove to be an extremely lively encounter. With nine of the last 10 combined matches between the two sides producing over 2.5 goals at full-time, we’re backing a similar result this weekend.
