In what could prove to be a very lively encounter in Nevada, Reno 1868 will host Tacoma Defiance in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Starting with the hosts, while many around Nevada may have believed that Reno 1868 could pull off a remarkable late charge up the Western Conference, Head Coach Ian Russell has seen his side come crashing back down to earth. Suffering a 3-2 loss against Frenso over the weekend, the former title challengers are in the midst of a four-match losing run and have seen any chance of a late push now in tatters. Without a win to their name since the start of August, a huge part of their continued struggles has come down to some glaring defensive issues. Wednesday’s hosts have remarkably conceded 14 goals on their losing run and have recorded just a single clean sheet since the 4th of July.

As for the visitors, much like their hosts on Wednesday morning, Tacoma Defiance have continued on what has been a woeful campaign in America’s second-tier. Still sat three points adrift at the foot of the West and the mood in their camp still at a worrying low, Head Coach Chris Little saw his side once again struggle in their 3-0 hammering away at Sacramento over the weekend. A huge part of their continued issues has come down to some very glaring problems on their travels. Including their defeat in California on Saturday, Tacoma Defiance have lost each of their last three matches on the road, shipping 10 goals without finding one in return.
