In what has all the makings of a lively encounter, Bundesliga debutants Union Berlin will welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while a shock victory over title contenders Borussia Dortmund may have sent shockwaves across Europe last month, Union Berlin have come crashing back down to earth. Suffering a 2-0 loss away at Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, the Bundesliga debutants have now lost back-to-back matches since returning from the international break. With many fearing that Urs Fischer’s men could be at the heart of a relegation scrap come May, most around Berlin will have concerns over Union’s defensive issues. Yet to record a clean sheet in any of their opening five appearances, Friday’s hosts have conceded 10 goals already this campaign.

As for the visitors, while Eintracht Frankfurt may have managed to snatch a dramatic late point against Dortmund on Sunday, they still appear to be some way off the side that took Germany by storm last season. Also opening their Europa League campaign with a 3-0 hammering at home to Arsenal, Adi Hutter’s men are without a win in their last three outings and are also showing their own defensive issues. Much like their hosts on Friday, the Reds are yet to record a single clean sheet across any competition so far this season and have now shipped two or more goals in each of their last three appearances. In a game that should produce plenty of chances at both ends, we’re backing over 2.5 goals in Berlin on Friday night.
