The Green Bay Packers lost for the first time this season as the Kansas City Chiefs surprised them 19-14 in the NFL on Sunday.

Green Bay – who are the reigning Super Bowl champions – entered the match with a 13-0 record throughout the 2011 season.

But that came to an end as a Kyle Orton-inspired Chiefs outfit claimed a shock win.

In his first start for Kansas City, Orton completed 23 of 31 passes for 299 yards as the Chiefs hung onto a lead they established in the first quarter.

They carried their 6-0 lead into half-time and although Green Bay fought back in the second half, Kansas City managed to hold on for a terrific victory.

The Indianapolis Colts also produced a surprise as they won their first match of the season, toppling the Tennessee Titans 27-13.

Indianapolis quarterback Dan Orlovsky was a cornerstone of the victory, with one touchdown pass and an instrumental block on an 80-yard TD run for his side.

In other results, the Cincinnati Bengals downed the St. Louis Rams 20-13, the Miami Dolphins edged the Buffalo Bills 30-23 and the Washington Redskins made the most of a fast start in their 23-10 win over the New York Giants.

The New Orleans Saints were easy 42-20 winners against the Minnesota Vikings, while the Philadelphia Eagles cruised past the New York Jets 45-19.

Seattle and San Diego were big winners too, with the Seahawks and the Chargers winning 38-14 and 34-14 respectively against the Chicago Bears and the Baltimore Ravens.

The New England Patriots came from behind to defeat the Denver Broncos 41-23 and the Arizona Cardinals needed overtime to beat the Cleveland Browns 20-17.

The Detroit Lions won a thriller against the Oakland Raiders 28-27, while the Carolina Panthers were triumphant 28-13 against the Houston Texans.
