Alan Pardew feels Newcastle United owe it to their travelling fans to improve their away form in the final games of the season.

Pardew’s side have won just once away from home all season and face a crucial clash with West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday.

The St James’ Park outfit are five points clear of the relegation zone but are nervously looking over shoulders at Wigan, who have a game in hand.
United boss Pardew has come in for much criticism in recent weeks following recent disappointing performances, but is attempting to rally his troops ahead of the trip to London.
“We need to show them (the fans) something. We need to show them we’re much better than our record suggests,” Pardew told The Evening Chronicle.
“They’ve been vital to us all year – the away fans have been absolutely terrific. And of course we have had phenomenal support at home with sell out crowds.

We need to make sure we give them something back.

“Our record isn’t good enough away from home. We know that. It’s got to improve dramatically if we’re going to stay up.”
