Orlando Pirates have emphatically declared Zambia’s Africa Cup of Nations-winning midfielder Isaac Chansa is not for sale.
Chansa, who on Sunday played a key role in Zambia’s Afcon final victory over Ivory Coast, has reportedly attracted the interest of several European clubs, who are said to be eager to start negotiations with him.
Despite the player’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Pirates spokesperson Mickey Modisane said Chansa has pledged his loyalty to the club and is eager to help them win their second Confederation of African Football Champions League trophy.
“Isaac Chansa is still our player. He is not for sale and this should be made very clear,” Modisane told KickOff.com.
“He is a very valuable player to the club because he is one of our most loyal soldiers.”
“His international experience with the Zambian national team will greatly benefit the club this year during the African Champions League.”
“His contract issues are being handled by the chairman and we are confident that he will remain with us.”
Modisane said there have been no official enquiries by other clubs for the midfielder’s signature.
“At the moment we have not received any enquiries regarding Chansa from clubs in or outside South Africa, but one cannot rule out the possibility of informal talks,” he said.
