Barcelona defender Carles Planas struggled to hide his delight after making his debut for the club against Alaves on Wednesday.

The full-back replaced Adriano with 15 minutes remaining of the Copa del Rey clash, which Barcelona won 3-1.

Planas has progressed up the ranks at Barcelona and was left thrilled with his debut.

“No words can describe making your debut here,” he told the club’s website.

“The feeling that you get when you finally play a game at the club where you have been since you were a child, fighting and working hard to play in the first team, I cannot describe it.

“I have given everything for this moment.”

Despite his lack of experience, the 21-year old believes he slotted into the senior side with ease.

“I felt very comfortable in the side, it is the position where I am used to playing and the quality of players around me made a big difference,” Planas said.

“The whole squad knows the level of performance we have to sustain and I am well aware that I need to continue to work hard to stay here.”
