Having coached the likes of Espanyol and Southampton, the 48-year-old’s stock rose significantly during a five-year spell with Tottenham Hotspur. Even though Spurs didn’t win a trophy in his time there, he converted the team from slightly above average in the Premier League to regular Champions League participants, The peak of his reign there was the 2019 final of the elite European club competition which he ended up losing to Liverpool.

Nonetheless, a weak start to the 2019/20 campaign saw the Argentinian get the sack in November last year, and he was soon replaced by Jose Mourinho. He has been out of management since.

Pochettino spent two years as a player at PSG, and sporting director Leonardo has reportedly been in contact with him for months now, aiming to evaluate his visions and long-term ideas were he to replace Tuchel.

It seems the Brazilian has finally been convinced.
