Olivier Giroud scored twice as Arsenal started their Far East tour with a convincing 7-0 victory over Indonesia All Stars on Sunday.

The Frenchman’s second goal, and Arsenal’s fourth, was the pick of the bunch as Arsene Wenger’s side treated the 88,000-strong crowd to a slick performance.

Much has been made of Arsenal’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements, with Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres all reportedly on their radar.

But Giroud’s display might have convinced Wenger that he already has the replacement for Robin van Persie that he so desperately craves.

Theo Walcott, Chuba Akpom, Lukas Podolski, Kris Olsson and Thomas Eisfeld were also on target for the rampant Gunners in Jakarta.

Arsenal broke the deadlock with 19 minutes gone when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain cut the ball back for Walcott to slide home the opener.

The hosts saw very little of the ball but Sergio Van Dijk’s ambitious effort that flew just over the bar gave them some hope shortly before the interval.

It took just nine minutes of the second half for the visitors to add to their tally, however, as the impressive Akpom applied the finishing touch to Serge Gnabry’s cross.

Giroud put the result beyond doubt with two goals in three minutes, Bacary Sagna providing the assist on both occasions.

The first, after 70 minutes, was a delicate close-range finish but the second was a stunning left-footed drive on the turn that would have graced any stage.

Podolski added the fifth with a powerful finish from the edge of the box with seven minutes to play and 18-year-old Olsson’s classy finish increased their lead two minutes later.

Eisfeld’s strike, which went in off the underside of the bar, completed the rout.
