Aston Villa continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-2 draw at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
It marks the fourth draw in the Premier League side’s fourth friendly of pre-season and it took a 52nd-minute equaliser from Ashley Westwood to spare Villa’s blushes against the League Two outfit.
The home side held their own in the clash which saw Aston Villa showcase several new signings but there was no appearance from Christian Benteke, who signed a contract extension on Friday.
The action at Adams Park saw Wycombe go ahead after just 11 minutes as Brad Guzan was caught unaware by a shot from the right from Martin McCoy.
Paul Lambert’s side did not stay behind for long though as Matt Lowton headed home a cross from Leandro Bacuna 13 minutes later but they entered half-time one goal adrift as Leon Johnson scored before the break.
The second half saw Aston Villa begin to fight back, following a number of substitutions, and a low curling free-kick from Westwood shared the spoils in the entertaining encounter.
Villa will now continue their preparations ahead of the new season with a match against Luton Town on Tuesday.
