West Bromwich Albion will entertain Southampton on Monday hoping for a change of fortune after two difficult encounters.

Steve Clarke’s men went down to Newcastle United and champions Manchester City in the past fortnight, ending their positive start to the campaign.

West Brom claimed four wins and two draws from their opening seven matches, but have slipped to eighth on the table after nine games.

“We’ve got to look to the next game now and Southampton on Monday night is a game we would expect to get something from with the way we’ve been playing,” goalkeeper Ben Foster told the West Brom website.

“We played really well against City and then again at Newcastle, and Southampton will know they’ve been in a game.”

Southampton travel to the Hawthorns with manager Nigel Adkins under immense pressure to keep his job.

Adkins shouldered the blame for Tuesday’s Capital One Cup loss to Championship side Leeds United and could be on his way out after taking just four points from nine matches in the Premier League.

Southampton, who have conceded an alarming 26 goals in their return to the top flight, are just one point clear of bottom-placed Queens Park Rangers.

“I have to take full responsibility for the team that goes out and all it’s done,” Adkins told the Southamption website.

“We’ve got to make sure that we address anything that is going wrong in any way we can for the sake of this football club, because that’s what it’s about.”
