Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino says he’s confident about Neymar and Kylian Mbappe staying at the club for years to come.
It took two years after Neymar’s sensational world-record transfer from Barcelona to PSG for him to start working on a move back to the Catalan club, appearing disillusioned with his chances of winning the Champions League with the Ligue 1 champions. He reportedly went as far as handing in a transfer request in 2019.
However, things could not be more different at the moment. Neymar himself recently revealed that he’s happy and intends to stay in the French capital, expressing the hope that Kylian Mbappe would decide the same.
Mbappe will be entering the final 12 months of his contract this summer, and it’s obvious that he’ll be making his decision between now and then with Real Madrid lurking.
But speaking to RMC sport, Pochettino said he was confident about both players staying put.
“I believe that they will both stay and I think they will stay for a long time at PSG,” he said.
And I have no doubt, I am very optimistic, the club is in the process of working to succeed in keeping them. This is a feeling. But it is also what I see: Ney and Kylian are happy. They enjoy themselves here, and I believe that the club is working for them to stay.”
