Paris Saint-Germain have decided to hand head coach Thomas Tuchel a new contract to keep him until 2022, according to a report by Le Parisien.
The Ligue 1 title holders suffered an unexpected Champions League exit this week at the hands of Manchester United having won the first leg of their round of 16 encounter at Old Trafford as two strikes by Romelu Lukaku punished the French side’s mistakes and Marcus Rashford slammed a late VAR-given penalty to send the English team through.
PSG’s hunt for the biggest trophy in European club football therefore remains unfulfilled, but despite that, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has expressed his support and unwavering trust in Tuchel and his work.
The German arrived to Paris to replace current Arsenal boss Unai Emery after the Spaniard failed to deliver the elusive trophy for two years, and it seems Al-Khelaifi is keen to give Tuchel at least as much time to achieve that goal.
Tuchel has, however, asked for a two-week period to think the offer over before giving his answer.
