Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Aalborg but won Group E nevertheless as Villarreal lost 2-0 at Celtic.

United had a very good start as Argentinian striker Carlos Tévez opened the score in less than three minutes, but the Danish visitors equalised through Jakobsen just after the half hour mark.

And the Scandinavians would even go ahead as Curth made it 1-2 just before the half time whistle. Not long after the break though, Wayne Rooney hit the net for 2-2.

Celtic delivered a good first-half performance against Villarreal, in what was their last European game of the season.

Maloney put the Scottish in the lead on 14 minutes and McGeady doubled the advantage right before the interval.
