FC Barcelona are practically through to the semi finals of the Champions League following an impressive 4-0 victory over Bayern Munich in a quarter final first leg on Wednesday.

Barcelona took the lead after just nine minutes at Camp Nou. Andres Iniesta found Samuel Eto’o in the penalty area, and the African then feeded Lionel Messi. The Argentinian made no mistake to put the ball past keeper Butt for 1-0.

And just three more minutes were needed for the Catalans to add a second, as a great reverse pass from Messi enabled Eto’o to fire home.

Messi got his second, and Barcelona’s third on 38 minutes. The South-American did well to convert a Massimo Oddo cross to leave Butt stranded once again.

And Barcelona would have an even more comfortable lead at half time as Thierry Henry got himself onto the scoreboard for 4-0.

The second leg will be played at Munich’s Allianz-Arena on April 14th.
