Ranieri looking to build

Inter coach Claudio Ranieri expects a hard working performance from his side when they take on Chievo in Serie A on Friday.

Ranieri’s men ended their five-match losing run with a 2-2 draw with Catania on Sunday.

The Italian has called on his side to gather positives from the result, especially with a UEFA Champions League match coming up against Marseille on Tuesday.

“If we win the match (against Chievo), the result will surely represent a good incentive for the match against Marseille,” Ranieri said.

“We have 70 days to change our situation.”

“This hasn’t been a good championship for Inter Milan, therefore we should roll up our sleeves.”

After Friday’s game against Chievo, Inter will host Marseille in their Champions League round-of-16 tie, trailing 1-0 after the first leg.

But league football is Ranieri’s first priority, with Inter currently seventh in Serie A on 37 points, six points off a Europa League berth.

“I hope my guys will be feeling the right pressure, concentration and determination necessary for a match like the one we face tomorrow,” Ranieri said.

“In the match against Catania we were losing 2-0, but the guys have managed to react and score two goals, therefore we should see this as been a positive sign and we should continue that way.”

Chievo are just three points behind Inter in Serie A, with three wins and a draw in their last six games, and Ranieri is concerned with the threat the home side pose.

“Chievo is able to make good performances… as they proved in the match against Juventus in Turin,” Ranieri said.

“The pitch at the Verona stadium isn’t in good condition though, and the ball doesn’t bounce too well, therefore they have to change their game style and we’ll surely be finding a more determined team focused on finishing and putting us under pressure.”
