Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt have both confirmed the transfer of Luka Jović from the Bundesliga side to the Spanish giants, pending a medical. Should everything go as planned, Jović will sign a six-year contract with Real.
The Serbia international was long hunted by Real’s arch-rivals Barcelona, but his excellent form this season (27 goals in 48 games in all competitions) attracted the attention of other big clubs too. The Catalans will continue their search for a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez elsewhere, while Jović will be a part of a reportedly huge squad overhaul at the Santiago Bernabeu.
There were reports of Real being willing to pay €60 million for the services of the 21-year-old striker but not to go above that, and that is what they will reportedly be paying in the end. Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain were mentioned in the context of a possible bidding war, but Real’s stance to hold their ground on the offer they had made seems to have paid off.
