Real Madrid double chance against Liverpool 4/5 for Wednesday’s Champions League showdown

Competition: Champions League

Market: Real Madrid win

Odds: 4/5 @ 888sport

Looking to finish off the job in midweek, Real Madrid will make the trip to an empty Anfield holding a crucial advantage on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, after managing to snatch what was a dramatic last-gasp winner against Aston Villa over the weekend, Liverpool will be desperate to drag that momentum into midweek. However, although Jurgen Klopp’s side might have marked their return from the international break with a thumping 3-0 win against an inconsistent Arsenal on their travels, they really put on a Spanish horror show last week. Making a string of defensive mistakes in what was a performance that came under real scrutiny, the former Borussia Dortmund boss saw his side suffer a 3-1 defeat on foreign soil and they face a real uphill task in midweek. Despite making a return to Anfield for their Champions League showdown on Wednesday night, The Reds could face another stern test against a high-flying Los Blancos side.

As for the visitors, picking up what could turn out to be a crucial 3-1 romp when they welcomed Liverpool to the Spanish capital last week, Real Madrid certainly managed to build off of that result over the weekend. In what was billed as a crucial week for them, The Whites picked up a very impressive 2-1 win against bitter rivals Barcelona on home soil. With the mood in their camp at a red-hot high, Zinedine Zidane’s side suddenly find themselves holding a commanding five-point buffer at the top of the La Liga table. Sat in pole position to retain their domestic crown this season, the former French icon has seen his squad real impress on either side of the international break. In fact, now winning each of their last six straight matchups across all formats and unbeaten since the end of January, don’t be surprised to see Madrid upset the odds at Anfield.
