Real Madrid have been credited with strong interest in Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies for a long time. Davies’ contract with the Bavarians expires at the end of the season, and Los Blancos have been hoping to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
However, multiple reports claim that the Canada international has been offered a new deal to remain at the Allianz Arena, and he’s considering its terms. According to Goal.com, this development has dealt a blow to Real’s hope of a free transfer, and not desiring to go into any kind of a bidding war for Davies, they’re preparing to step up their interest in Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold instead.
The England international will also be out of contract in the summer, but Real might decide to present Liverpool with an offer to get the transfer done as early as January.
Sitting atop both the Premier League and the Champions League tables at the moment, it’s hard to imagine the Merseysiders accepting any mid-season offer for Alexander-Arnold. They are believed to have offered the 26-year-old right-back a new contract, but no agreement is reached soon, his future will be out of their hands at the end of the season.
